Mad Max Game Review

Everyone should know the story of mad max, unless you've been living under a rock all your lives or have only just been born which in case you're excuse from knowing this story.
Unlike the film to which this game isn't based on it story but only based on concept which takes you in to the world where the apocalypse has happen & turn the world in to a waste land of savage people gone mad, destroy everything in there path creating war group faction that rule certain lands.

The game's graphics are pretty good in show this environment, with the special effect of the storm which has two type lighting storm & hurricane, which does do alot of damage if you caught out in the open during this storms but you are giving a 10 sec warning when one approaches which i liked, give you a chance to drive to cover.

The character's & detail are awesomely done on the ps4 version not sure what they are like on the xbox one version, but i will say this game is pretty awesome on the ps4, i love the way they've designed the look of the main villain of the game lord Scrotus,

As bad ass boss go this is one scariest looking dude's ever seen , special in this waste land game, where you see alot of gruesome thing in this game from body cut up to bloody scarecrows made out of bodies & scrap metal to mark territories.

That not all you have to contend with in this waste land ,you have war boy parties in a variety of vehicle hunting you down & running you off the road.

But all is not lost when it come to car combat as you complete various mission you get upgrades to car defence & weapons, not only that a colourful character by the name of cumbucket that reminds me of the hunchback in 300 film, this guy come in handy when you on the road because it allow you to focus on the road while you can get cumbucket to fire the weapon at the enemy.

The upgrade system on the character is easy to use with a simple grading system which allow you to unlock certain items with the scrap metal you pick up from blowing up cars & raid camps.

With the mad max game it's main feature is the cars, which you have two sets of cars to collect, you have the archangel cars & the normal collectable cars that you can steal off the road or at camps to bring back to the base.
Unlike the collectable cars the only upgradable cars are the archangel ones , which you spend most of the time driving in unless your racing which is random choice car depend on the location of the death races , which is part of the races tracks which you need to beat the time to get legendary marks too get the trophies if your going for the platinum trophy.
The cars have a simple upgrade system easy to use like the others, yet some car parts are only unlock as the mission progress, but if you new to this game i would do the main mission first that way you get all the vehicle you need for game, plus the other things need to get platinum.

Most of these are the good parts of the game, the storyline although tragic towards the end, it kind of does leave for a second game to be done, but this game isn't without its faults.

During some of the race's your find that they can become very frustrating at time as some of the vehicle are off balance, the slightest bump or hit they tend to spin out lose seconds on the clock to try to get thoughs legend marks.
There is one vehicle that is so slow & off balance its almost impossible, to get a legend mark with it, but there is a sliver lining the trophy for these races only need to you complete in every death race with the collectible, but you have to get legendary mark with the archangel cars to get the trophies which is a good thing as most of the other cars are unstable.

This is the one thing that stressed me out the most the fighting, which the developer have got completely backwards, when you on foot you get into a combat situation the camera is way to close to the character you can see the attack coming from behind you, which is frustrating when your trying to get a combo without getting hit.
Most of the time you final on this because the camera is so close, yet when it come to car combat there is so much distance you can see 360 degree around you, now this should have been put in to the fighting combat as well because the close camera doesnt work so well when your in combat.

The is the other problem with this game if your going for the platinum trophy, most of the trophy are pretty simple to get as most of them are tied with races & mission, but here where this game can be very repetitive.
There is a trophy called Up to the Task, now you would think it would be just a simple trophy by getting one mission done, no.......sadly the case is that its not so easy as that, you have 144 challenge to complete to get this trophy, did it really need this many no because that a little over the top when it come to a trophy, as some of the challenges require x2 to complete it, which is repetitive because you can alway do them first time.
This is a bad in the ass because the length of the game is already long as it is without having to complete all these challenges to get that trophy, which can get boring after playing for a while.

Do i recommend this game yes if you look for a fun game, but if you looking for the platinum be prepare for the long haul.

Good point:
Characters
storyline
Car combat
weather is intense
great realism in Environment
Game play.

Bad point:
In combat the camera is too close
Repetitive nature of the challenges
Some cars are unstable spin out.

Game Rating: 7 out of 10
